I am Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (license #MC61667533) in the state of Washington. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their caregivers as they manage difficult life experiences, challenging behaviors, and mental health challenges such as anxiety, OCD, and depression. Using a warm, solution-focused, and nonjudgmental approach, I am committed to providing compassionate evidence-based care to improve the mental health and well-being of young people and their caregivers.
I recognize that starting therapy can feel intimidating. It is my goal to meet you where you are, to foster a comfortable space where we can have open and honest conversations, and to work collaboratively with your family. Your values, identities, and goals will shape the work we do together. For caregivers, by bringing together your wisdom about your child with my expertise in evidence-based interventions, we will work together to help your child learn coping strategies and skills, set and reach goals, and improve their functioning and well-being. To help make therapy less intimidating I bring warmth, empathy, and even a little fun into our sessions. I strive to make therapy engaging for your child by integrating their interests such as art, games, and other creative outlets.
Education and Training
Working as a mental health counselor is a second career for me! With a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Washington, I spent two decades working as a research scientist and consultant. When raising my own children, I saw first-hand the challenges families face when trying to find quality parenting support and mental health services for their children. With my passion for Psychology, coupled with my desire to help children and parents navigate mental and behavioral health challenges, I went back to graduate school for clinical training to become a therapist and obtained a M.A. in Applied Child and Adolescent Psychology from the University of Washington.
During my Masters training I worked as an Intern Clinician at Sound Behavioral Health providing outpatient therapy to children and adolescents for a variety of mental health challenges including trauma-related stress symptoms, anxiety, depression, and behavior problems. My work at Sound also included working closely with caregivers during treatment and providing parenting interventions in group settings. After completing my Masters training, I received additional specialized training and supervision at Rogers Behavioral Health providing evidence-based care to children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety, OCD, and depression in both intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial-hospitalization (PHP) settings.
