Parent Counseling

Parenting is hard work, and when your child is struggling, it can feel even harder. Parent counseling provides a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you can gain practical tools to help improve your child’s behavior and mental health and reduce your own parenting stress so you can get back to enjoying all the wonderful things about your child.

Using evidence-based parenting interventions, we teach you strategies to help improve your child’s well-being, even if your child never sets foot in the therapy room!

What to Expect

Seeking parent counseling is a positive step toward strengthening your relationship with your child and supporting their emotional well-being. When you come to our practice, you can expect a collaborative, non-judgmental environment where your perspective is valued. We’ll start by understanding your family’s unique dynamics, strengths, challenges, and goals, and then work together to create a plan that feels practical and supportive.

Parent counseling can make a real difference for children—even if they aren’t in individual therapy!

For parents of children struggling with anxiety and OCD, we use Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), a research-backed program that teaches you to respond to your child in ways that helps reduce their anxiety and build their confidence. Although children do not attend sessions in SPACE treatment, they remain the focus of care. In other words, you are attending counseling to help reduce your child’s anxiety or OCD symptoms and to increase their functioning. Helping your child is at the heart of the work we will do together.

For parent counseling sessions you have the option to either meet in person at our office or virtually via telehealth.
